Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Shell2Go processes to provide its hosted SSH, SFTP, and FTP service and the controls available to account holders.

Information we process

We process account details; workspace, membership, subscription, and billing status; saved host addresses, ports, usernames, groups, and verified fingerprints; encrypted credential records; limited security logs; and transfer metadata such as direction and byte count. We do not store terminal commands or file contents as application logs.

Why we process it

We use this information to authenticate users, provide remote access, enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, send account messages, administer subscriptions, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use terminal activity for advertising.

Credentials and remote traffic

SSH passwords, private keys, and passphrases are protected with authenticated encryption before storage and decrypted only when an authorized connection needs them. SSH and SFTP encrypt traffic in transit. Legacy FTP does not encrypt its traffic and should be used only when the remote server cannot support SFTP.

Service providers

Hosting, email-delivery, database, monitoring, and payment providers may process the minimum information necessary to operate their part of the service. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored in the Shell2Go database.

Security and retention

Shell2Go uses secure cookies, password hashing, access controls, rate limits, encrypted credential storage, host-key verification, and audit records. Expired sessions and one-time tokens are removed automatically. Security events are ordinarily retained for up to 365 days unless a longer period is needed for abuse investigation or legal compliance.

Your controls

Account Settings allows you to download a JSON export and request permanent account deletion. Workspace owners must first address other members and active paid subscriptions. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by contacting noreply@shell2go.com.

Cookies and changes

Shell2Go uses essential cookies for authentication and security. We do not currently use advertising cookies. Material policy changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
